Well, the winter season is well underway which means that it’s time to take a look at this season’s winners and losers. Out of the twenty three premieres this season, thirteen series weren’t sequels and I was able to check out eight of them to varying degrees. Watching those eight series however, I remembered one important lesson… not all anime is created equal. So without further ado…

The Story
In the second episode of this action series, it’s time for Layfon to join the 17th platoon just in time to join in the first battle. In this world, the platoons are put into battle against each other. Their choice of battlefields are winner take all capture the flag games. Before that can take place though, Layfon will get to establish some new relationships with the platoon’s psychic, Felli and the captain, Nina.

My second sci-fi series of the day to be absolutely nothing like I thought it would be.
The Story
In this futuristic society, humanity has been driven into large encapsulated, traveling habitats called Regios due to giant, roaming monsters created from pollution. Each Regios hosts its own population and each one specializes in something, be it transportation or in the case of Zenri; education. The hero of ‘Chrome Shelled Regios’ is Layfon Alseif, a new student who intended to join the academy Regios as a general student working his way through. After seeing his talents on his first day though, the student council president insists that he be bumped to the top scholarship rank and be assigned to join the 17th Military Arts Platoon in order to help the school survive.
