Spring Anime Preview: Asura Cryin

Asura Cryin’
aka:
アスラクライン
Genre: Paranormal
Premiere Date: 4/2
Studio: Seven Arcs
Official Website

Story

Tomoharu is a normal high school student… except for he’s not alone. Haunted by the ghost of his dead childhood best friend, he moves into a new home in time for the new school year. That becomes a little more difficult than anticipated when his house becomes overrun with various female occult users. Even worse than that he has been pulled into a fight to protect a trunk within the house that others want to steal.

Artwork

This is one of those series that I really wished I could see more of before it premiered. The only video that fans have gotten to see from this series so far is the terrible quality PV recorded from the floor of TAF. From what you can see, the characters are going to be fairly cute and there will be at least a little bit of fan service. Seven Arcs are also riding pretty high at the moment with last season’s ‘White Album’ being so well received with fans.

Early Impressions

This is another series that doesn’t seem to offer much in terms of originality. There’s enough here to make someone want to start watching to see where it goes which is fortunate for them. Unfortunately that means this series is going to have to pull off something special in the first few episodes to keep that curiosity alive. At the very least, they chose the right director for fan service in Keizou Kusakawa. He has directed two other series; Inukami and Sekirei… both at least a little ecchi.
