Story:
In this world, the country’s queen is the winner of a tournament. The tournament is simple; any female over the age of twelve can enter. They don’t need to be human or from the country holding the tournament, just a girl over twelve. Everyone who enters joins a deadly tournament where you can win by any means necessary including killing the other participants with the winners of each battle are broadcast for everyone to see. You win by either making your opponent flee or be unable to fight back.
The next tournament is four years away and it’s time for the next set of participants to decide on their fate.

Alright, I admit it… this is a fantasy series that is pretty much resigned itself into being a fan service series. There is absolutely no way that you can look at that trailer and tell me that it’s not going to be a fan service series. Looking at that trailer, you could easily assume that this is an anime based off an eroge but it’s actually based off a tabletop RPG. Despite that however, the action in ‘Queen’s Blade’ doesn’t look half bad if you can get past the whole thought process of how they’re keeping such giant breasts firmly in place behind such tiny amounts of armor.
Early Reactions:
Initially this series had me pretty excited. It sounded like an incredibly interesting story and something that I could really get into. The more I learn about it however, the less impressed I have become. That said however, this is the first series of the new season to really boast a strong seiyuu cast: Aya Hirano will be making her season debut as Nanael, Mamiko Noto will be playing Tomoe (the one who looked like a miko but was holding a big ass sword), plus Hitomi Nabatame (Shizuka), Rie Tanaka (Nyx) and Yuko Goto (Menace).
I’m going to give this series a strong cursory glance and hope that it gives me something more than pretty girls in skimpy armor wildly swinging swords at each other. If it can give me something else, ANYTHING else for that matter, I may stick with it for much longer.
